Rupita Chakraborty

Rupita Chakraborty is an experienced commercial litigator and trial lawyer, with a decade of experience in securities litigation, criminal defense, and white-collar investigations. Her current practice involves representing aggrieved shareholders in securities class actions across a number of industries, including advertising technology, biotechnology, and commodities mining.

Rupita previously defended individuals and corporations in criminal, regulatory, and civil matters involving allegations of racketeering conspiracy, market manipulation, unlawful drug price increases, improper lobbying, and discriminatory hiring. Prior to joining Pomerantz, Rupita was an associate at a New York law firm, where she was a member of the criminal trial team representing the former CFO of Archegos Capital Management in a nine-week federal jury trial involving charges of racketeering conspiracy, securities fraud, and wire fraud. She has also handled a wide range of complex commercial disputes, including civil racketeering and breach of contract.

Rupita enjoys a robust pro bono practice. She has represented federally incarcerated individuals in both Section 1983 and compassionate release claims, in addition to previously representing a victim-witness in a sensitive racketeering and sex trafficking trial in the Southern District of New York.

Rupita earned a J.D. from the New York University School of Law, where she was clinically trained at the Federal Defenders of New York and the Office of the Appellate Defender. She is a Fulbright scholar, having served as an English Teaching Assistant in East Kalimantan, Indonesia from August 2011 to June 2012.
