Advocating Consumer Rights
Pomerantz’s Consumer Litigation practice group, led by Partner Jordan L. Lurie, represents consumers in actions that seek to recover monetary and injunctive relief on behalf of class members while also advocating for important consumer rights.
The attorneys in this group have successfully prosecuted claims involving California’s Unfair Competition Law, California’s Consumers Legal Remedies Act, the Song Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, and the Song Beverly Credit Card Act. They have resolved cases involving unlawful recording, illegal background checks, cryptocurrency, medical billing, price fixing, misleading advertising, data breach privacy, and false advertising of various consumer products and services, and other consumer finance related actions. These actions have resulted in significant changes to defendants’ business practices, in addition to monetary recovery for class members.
The Consumer Litigation practice group also has pioneered groundbreaking class action litigations against major car companies under the California Emissions Warranty and has advanced consumer claims for public injunctive relief under California’s unfair business practices statute.
