Rupita is an experienced commercial and criminal trial lawyer and litigator. Her practice involves representing aggrieved shareholders in securities litigation to recover losses across a number of industries, including technology and mining.
Prior to joining Pomerantz, Rupita was an associate at Friedman, Kaplan, Seiler, Adelman & Robbins, where she was a member of the criminal trial team representing the CFO of Archegos Capital Management in a nine-week federal jury trial involving charges of racketeering conspiracy, securities fraud, and wire fraud. She has previously defended individuals and corporations in various white-collar criminal and regulatory matters, including allegations of unlawful pharmaceutical price increases, improper lobbying, and discriminatory hiring. Rupita has also handled a wide range of complex civil matters, including securities litigation, civil racketeering allegations, employment matters, and general commercial disputes.
Rupita enjoys a robust pro bono practice. She has represented federally incarcerated individuals in both Section 1983 and compassionate release claims, in addition to previously representing a victim-witness in a sensitive racketeering and sex trafficking trial in the Southern District of New York.
Rupita earned a J.D. from the New York University School of Law, where she was clinically trained at the Federal Defenders of New York and the Office of the Appellate Defender.
Rupita is a Fulbright scholar, having served as an English Teaching Assistant in East Kalimantan, Indonesia from August 2011 to June 2012.
