Pomerantz Shortlisted for Benchmark Litigation’s Plaintiff Firm of the Year

Benchmark’s annual awards honor “the country's most distinguished litigators and their firms for their exemplary work over the last twelve months.”
In 2020, Pomerantz won Benchmark Litigation’s Plaintiff Firm of the Year award. Michael Rafalowich, Benchmark’s Managing Editor, cited the Firm’s historic $3 billion settlement with Petróleo Brasileiro S.A.–Petrobras and precedent-setting success in securities litigation against Perrigo Co. plc as key factors for bestowing this honor on Pomerantz. The Firm’s Petrobras litigation was also recognized as a Benchmark National Impact Case in 2019.
In 2022, for the third year running, Benchmark ranked Pomerantz as one of the top plaintiffs’ securities litigation firms in the United States. Among other achievements, Pomerantz was praised by Benchmark for its “prodigious capacity for cases and its tenacity to keep pursuing them.” Specifically, Benchmark noted the “substantial, newsworthy” efforts of Jeremy Lieberman and Emma Gilmore to hold Deutsche Bank accountable for misleading investors regarding deficiencies in its anti-money laundering protocols and its failure to properly monitor “highly unsavory figures that were kept on as clients,” including financier and accused sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, “because they generated millions in revenue.” In a significant victory for damaged Deutsche Bank investors, Pomerantz achieved a $26.25 million settlement to end the proposed class action in September 2022.
Also in 2022, Benchmark once again honored Jeremy Lieberman and Partners Murielle Steven Walsh, Matthew L. Tuccillo and Emma Gilmore as Litigation Stars for 2023, in recognition of their accomplishments as “outstanding individuals” who are “highly regarded by their peers and possess a strong case record.” Partners Michael Grunfeld and Austin P. Van and Partner and Head of Client Services Jennifer Pafiti were recognized by Benchmark as Future Stars.
