Pomerantz Partners Named to Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Lawyers in America List
Jeremy Lieberman, Pomerantz’s Managing Partner, and Jennifer Pafiti, Partner and Head of Client Services, were named to Lawdragon’s list of the 500 Leading Lawyers in America for 2023.
Lawdragon’s list “celebrates attorneys who shaped the legal industry in the past year and beyond.”
Jeremy led the securities class action litigation against Brazil’s largest oil company, Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras, which arose from a decades long, multi-billion-dollar kickback and bribery scheme. In 2018, Pomerantz, as sole Lead Counsel, achieved a historic $3 billion settlement for the Class – the largest securities class action settlement in a decade, the largest settlement ever in a securities class action involving a foreign issuer, the fifth-largest securities class action settlement ever achieved in the United States, the largest securities class action settlement achieved by a foreign Lead Plaintiff, and the largest securities class action settlement in history not involving a restatement of financial reports.
Among other achievements, Jeremy was Lead Counsel in a class action securities litigation against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V., in which the Firm achieved a $110 million settlement for the Class. Jeremy is at the vanguard of expanding global investors’ rights. In just one example, in November 2019, he secured the certification of a parallel classes of investors that purchased Perrigo Co. plc shares on the New York Stock Exchange and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange – the first ruling to certify a foreign purchaser class since the Supreme Court’s landmark 2010 ruling in Morrison v. National Australia Bank, Ltd.

Jennifer also spearheads and manages the Firm’s PomTrack® Portfolio Monitoring Service, which monitors client portfolios to identify and evaluate potential and pending securities fraud, ERISA and derivative claims, and class action settlements. With a focus on client education and engagement, Jennifer regularly travels throughout the U.S. and Europe to advise institutional investors on how best to evaluate losses to their portfolios that may be attributable to financial fraud or other misconduct, and how best to maximize their potential recoveries. She is also a regular speaker at events on securities litigation and fiduciary duty. Jennifer organizes Pomerantz’s highly regarded Corporate Governance Roundtables. The next Roundtable, to take place in in Rome in October 2023, will feature the former British Prime Minister, the Right Honorable Sir Tony Blair, as the special guest speaker.
